Renewal of the waterproofing of a shed roof
The shed roof, constructed in the 1960s, consists of a combination of aluminum elements and glass skylights. The window areas of the shed roof glazing made of wire glass panes offer, due to the natural light incidence, an optimal illumination of the rooms below. Due to the strong influence of the weather and the relatively large angle of inclination, the shed roof began to leak after a good 50 years and a complete renovation was required. New roof drains were installed to drain the roof surface. Such detail points place particularly high demands on a roof waterproofing system, since different materials meet here that have different expansion coefficients and thermally induced stresses and movements can occur here. In addition, they very often have only low connection heights or are located in angled corners. A liquid sealant adapts optimally to the surface and thus seals even complicated details and connections underflow-proof. For the details and penetrations on the shed roof, the waterproofing resin Wecryl R 230 thix including fleece reinforcement was used. The horizontal surface was permanently waterproofed with Wecryl R 230, including fleece reinforcement. For this purpose, material (approx. 1.5 kg/m²) was applied, the fleece insert was placed in the fresh embedding layer and immediately worked in bubble-free with the fur roller. The second layer (approx. 1.0 kg/m²) was applied wet-on-wet. Thus - without waiting time - the fleece could be covered with Wecryl R 230.
