Hamburg Airport Parking Garage P6
Subsequent coating with crack-bridging protective system
Project: P6 airport parking garage, Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel
Scope: Surface coating of the three-story structure, total area approx. 12,000 m² plus 1,600 m² ramps
Substrate: Mineral substrate
Period: December 2017 - March 2018 (processing temperatures down to 0 °C).
Applied:WestWood® Wecryl surface protection system OS 10: hwO without fleece inlay, wearing course of flowing mortar Wecryl 233 incl. quartz sand scattering, colored head sealing with Wecryl 288.
Parking garage waterproofing in winter: no problem for PMMA
Due to the original crack-free design, the coating of the concrete floor in the P6 parking garage at Hamburg Airport was dispensed with. In the course of use, however, cracks appeared in which chlorides could penetrate up to the reinforcement. The client therefore decided to subsequently apply the crack-bridging WestWood® Wecryl surface protection system OS 10 to prevent consequential damage: The sealing layer (hwO) was implemented in the surface without fleece insertion. The fast reaction times and the very high laying performance allowed the contractor to achieve advantages in the calculation and later processing. In addition, the WestWood®-OS 10 impresses with its improved appearance in direct comparison to systems with fleece inlay.
