Safe on board thanks to PMMA
Safe on board thanks to PMMA: At the Norderelbstraße pontoon, the journey begins on the listed steamship Schaarhörn. Passengers embark on their charter or traditional trips on the steel 'Swan of the Lower Elbe', built in 1908 for the Hamburg Senate, via the three floating bodies of approx. 300 m² each. The constant impact of the Elbe water as well as the strong mechanical loads caused by the ship's operation made a renovation of the pontoons necessary. The local EKER Ingenieurbüro für Bauwesen e.K. was commissioned with the creation of a durable surface protection system. The decisive factor was the requirement for the shortest possible closing time during the main season, which was met by the PMMA solution from WestWood®.
