From 8 June 2024, WestWood® Kunststofftechnik GmbH will be replacing all metal packaging with sustainable tinplate containers from MUHR & SÖHNE GmbH & Co. KG, Attendorn, Germany. WestWood® is the first PMMA manufacturer in the industry to use this environmentally friendly packaging solution, thereby optimising its own carbon footprint.
This packaging is made from bluemint® recycled packaging steel from thyssenkrupp Rasselstein GmbH, Andernach, which saves 1.53 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of material compared to conventional steel.
MUHR Metallverpackungen, a long-standing partner of WestWood®, uses this sustainable steel, which is made from recycled steel scrap and thus reduces the use of iron ore and coking coal.
This saves up to 62% CO2 compared to conventional packaging steel. Thanks to this innovation, WestWood® saves more than 258 tonnes of CO2 annually, thereby strengthening its sustainability goals.

Our sustainability goals also include the reforestation of native forests. For this reason, we are currently running a joint fundraising campaign with the Wilde Karde e. V. environmental education centre with the aim of reforesting native forests. The reforestation is being carried out by school classes as part of a project. You are welcome to participate in the project in the form of a donation. You can find all information about the campaign in this flyer: AUFFORSTUNG
